Day Seventy Four to Eighty: Go counters go!

Oh, that sucks. Just typed up the posting and it didn't save. Well, here goes again........

Day 78 had the counter dude come out to measure for the countertops. According to E, he was quite the character (not only does he measure for countertops, but he's also a bounty hunter). With only one edge of the counters needing a little leveling attention, everything went well. It should take about 2 weeks to fabricate the counters, so in theory we could have them in on November 4. The plumber is scheduled for the beginning of the following week, so there's the slight possibility we could have a sink and dishwasher by November 9. But that's just crazy talk.

In the meantime, since Dr. Drey started peeling the blue protective coatings off the cabinets, we decided to peel 'em all off. So now you can see the cabinets in their intended glorious, vibrant color (from top: south wall of kitchen; west wall of kitchen; pantry).

Besides all that, we'll be working on installing the light fixture in the pantry, the breakfast bar counter, and a variety of other tasks until the counters are in. We also got the cedar shingles up on the back of the house, just in time for the rainy season. Stay tuned for the counter updates.

I have lost some of my zeal for the kitchen project, but I hope that in the next week or so I will perk back up for the home stretch! And then it's onto the guest room...
